This is a continuation on the notable events in the first year of Islaam after Migration. Other salient issues are addressed in this part vis-à-vis the agreement reached between the prophet and the jews, the Islamic brotherhood bond, consumation of the marriage of `Aishah, inter alia.
This is another notable event during the first year of Islaam in Madiinah city. In order to bring about peaceful co-existence between the Muslims in Madiinah and the Jews, the prophet (sol-solah) entered into an agreement with the Jews.
This borders on the fact that the Jews were, in a way, not happy with the space at which people were embracing Islaam in Madiinah. And history has it that, prior to the prophethood of Prophet Muhammad (sol-solah) and his messengership, the Jews in Madiinah used to tell the Arabs [as a matter of fact, the Arabs had never recorded a messenger sent to them] that a prophet would be sent. So, they used to claim that it would surely be from among them. However, as providence would have it, the said prophet, who happened to be Prophet Muhammad (sol-solah), was raised from among the Arabs and not the Jews.
Unfortunately, the munaafiquun (hypocrites) of Madiinah also, in disguise, work hand in hand with the provoked Jews. The leader of this group of munaafiquun happens to be `Abdul-laah ibn Ubayy ibn Saluul.
The Muhaajiruun were those among the Muslims who left Makkah for Madinah, while the An-soor (usually translated as "The Helpers") were those who received and welcomed the Muhaajiruun.
In order to strengthen the bond between the Muslims and to facilitate the resolution of the enmity between the Aws and Khazraj clans in Madiinah, the prophet (sol-solah) joined two Muslims, one muhaajir and one An-soor, as brothers. In that effect, Abu Bakr was joined with Khoorijah ibn Zubayr, Tol-hah ibn `Ubaydillaah and Ka`b ibn Malik, to mention but a few. This happened in the month of Dhul-qo`dah.
Prior to the migration, `Aaishah (rodiyal-loohu`an-haa) had been given in marriage to the prophet (sol-solah). However, the marriage was, however, consummated in the first year of Hijrah, precisely in the month of Shawwaal.
Below is a list of other notable events, though not discussed extensively:
a. The Islaam of habarul-yahuud (the learned man of the Jew). His name was Abdullaah ibn Salaam. He was regarded as one of the versed in the book sent to the devotees of the Jewish religion prior to Islaam. He embraced Islaam during this year.
b. It was also recorded that the family of Abuu Bake also joined the Muslims in Madiinah.
c. The number of obligatory rakats was also increased in the month of Robiul-aakhor. The number of rakat for zuh-r, `asr, and `ishaa' was increased to four units from the initial two.
d. Furthermore, the first among the Muhaajiruun given birth to was Abdullaah ibn Az-zubayr, and while among the An-soor, An-nu`maan ibn Bashiir.
e. Equally, the first recorded death in this year was the death of Kul-thuum ibn al-Hadam, followed by the demise of As-`ad ibn Zarooroh (may Allah be pleased with them all). They all died before the completion of the building of the prophet's mosque in Madinah.
